NAFSMA Room Block in Santa Fe Set to Expire on June 18 NAFSMA members and colleagues are urged to make their reservations for the association’s 40th Anniversary Annual Meeting as soon as possible as the hotel block expires on Monday, June 18 and the hotel is beginning to fill up.  This year’s Annual Meeting will be held at the historic and beautiful La Fonda on the Plaza hotel in downtown Santa Fe.

House Approves Water Resources Development Act of 2018 - June 6, 2018
House WRDA Cleared for Floor Action - June 6, 2018 The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Water Resources Development Act of 2018 (H.R. 8), was cleared by the House Rules Committee for floor action yesterday clearing the bill for floor consideration of the bill and amendments to start as early as today.
House Transportation Committee Releases Its Version of WRDA 2018 - May 18, 2018 H.R. 8, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s version of WRDA 2018, was released today. The full Committee markup on the bill is planned for Wednesday, May 23.  A copy of the 58-page bill, as well a section-by-section summary of the bill is attached.  NAFSMA is currently reviewing the House bill.  To access more information on the bill, go to https://transportation.house.gov/wrda-2018/.
Senate Committee Releases 2018 Water Resources Bill – House Bill Expected Next Week - May 10, 2018 The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Tuesday, May 8 released its version of the 2018 water resources legislation.  Titled “America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018,” the legislation is the Senate Committee’s version of a water resources development bill (known as WRDA) for 2018.  The bill authorizes policies and projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and includes a number of provisions to make the Corps processes more transparent. 
NAFSMA Flood Risk Resiliency Roundtable NAFSMA members are urged to participate in the association’s upcoming one-day Flood Risk Resiliency Roundtable, which will be held in San Antonio at the Menger Hotel on Thursday, May 31, 2018. The registration for the one-day session is only $125 and travel stipends are available for  those public agencies who are travelling to the event (one stipend per agency).  The invitation to the Roundtable is attached and online registration is available at www.nafsma.org.

Spending Bill Enacted Through Sept 30 - NFIP Authorized Through July 31, 2018 The House by a vote of 256 to 167 yesterday, and the Senate by a vote of 65-32 early this morning, approved a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the federal government through the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends on September 30.  The bill was sent to the Oval Office and now awaits signature by President Trump.  Without enactment of the omnibus bill by midnight tonight, the federal government would shut down.
NAFSMA Alert - House and Senate Pass Two Week Federal Funding Bill - NFIP Also Extended to December 22 The House and Senate today approved a two-week continuing resolution (H. J. Res. 123) to keep the federal government funded through December 22, 2017.  The bill also extends the current authorization for the National Flood Insurance Program through the same period.
